Cinnamon or cinnamon powder is a spice that is made from the bark of trees scientifically known as Cinnamomum. This spice is extracted from the inner bark of the tree. What are benefit of cinnamon?

  1. Antioxidants protect your body from oxidative damage caused by free radicals. One benefit of cinnamon is that it has powerful antioxidant called polyphenols which helps your body-cells stay young and healthy.
  2. Helps to curb insulin resistance: Another benefit of cinnamon is that it helps to manage insulin levels. Insulin is the most important hormone for body’s metabolism and energy levels. It is essentially a nutrient carrier of our blood-stream. Due to modern unhealthy eating patterns, many people fall prey to insulin resistance, which means, the insulin in your body is unable to carry the daily required nutrients to different parts of your body, causing you to feel lethargic and unenergetic. But the better news is, consuming cinnamon helps insulin do its job correctly. It reduces blood-sugar levels and helps your entire body experience the optimal states of energy.(Foods to fix hormonal imbalance in kids?)
  3. Last and an important benefit of cinnamon is that it has anti-inflammatory properties which can soothe the gut and all the integral organs and fight against foreign infections and bacteria. (How to improve gut health?)

how shouldyou consume Cinnamon powder on a daily basis?

Consuming cinnamon with water is very effective for weight loss. But cinnamon is non-soluble in water, so if you add a pinch of cinnamon to a glass of water, it is most likely going to deposit on the sides of the glass. The ideal way to consume cinnamon with water is by making a cinnamon concoction. This can be easily done by boiling cinnamon with water.

Tip: If you are a busy mother, who can barely find time to touch her nose, you can make cinnamon lollies once a week. All you have to do is freeze the cinnamon concoction just like the ice-cubes in our refrigerators and add 2-3 cinnamon lollies to a glass of water everyday. It’s best to consume cinnamon 25-20 minutes before meals.
