The act of making love is essential to a happy relationship. It enhances closeness, trust, and bonding between two persons. As the body grows, some changes can be seen in their testicles and scrotum too. It is a natural process just as girls get their periods. The body is getting ready for the process of reproduction.

Physiological Skin changes at puberty:

During puberty, the body produces an increase in reproductive hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. These three hormones are in charge of puberty and are responsible for stimulating the sebaceous glands. These glands produce and secrete an oily substance known as sebum. Sebaceous glands grow in size and begin secreting sebum at the start of puberty. During puberty, these glands become overactive and produce excessive sebum, resulting in oily skin, clogged follicles, dead skin cells, and acne.

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions during puberty, but its severity varies greatly depending on hormone imbalances, genetics, and environmental factors. Puberty acne appears mostly on the back, upper chest, neck, shoulders, and, most commonly, the face during puberty.

Few tips to deal with skin changes at puberty:
  • Harsh scrub should be avoided. Acne-prone skin should be washed with gentle cleanser and warm water. Pat with a soft cloth. Repeat one to two times per day.
  • Oil based products which are known to clog pores should be avoided.
  • Sun protection and moisturizer should be used.
  • Picking, squeezing or popping acne lesions should be avoided.
  • Eating right.

Physiological hair changes at puberty:

Just as like your skin, puberty affects the hair too. As previously stated, our bodies contain glands that produce oil (sebum) to moisturize our hair. During puberty, hormonal changes cause these glands to become overactive, resulting in more sebum (oil) secretion than is necessary. Excess oil secretion results in an oily scalp or hair. Because of these things, teenagers and pre-teens find it annoying and even upsetting. On the contrary, some teenagers during puberty may experience skin and hair dryness due to decreased sebum secretion.

Few tips to deal with hair changes at puberty:
  • Proper hair care can help to regulate the excess oil.
  • Gentle hair wash with less harsh hair care products.
  • The frequency of shampooing varies based on hair types as oily hair washing should be at least 3 times per week.
  • Regular use of natural conditioners is also a good way to keep your hair healthy.
  • Eating right.

HORMONE BALANCING FOODS to manage changes at puberty:

1. MANJISHTHA:

Manjishtha is a powerful blood cleanser. It detoxes and purifies the blood. Apart from that, it aids in the removal of blood flow obstructions and promotes great blood circulation. This aids in the treatment of acne. This herb also helps to lift your spirits, leaving you peaceful and relaxed. It elevates your mood by increasing Dopamine levels in your blood (a neurotransmitter that regulates brain activity). Manjishtha’s anti-stress and nootropic properties aid to keep your mind at ease. It also helps in managing hair problems like dandruff, greying of hairs and hair fall.

2. TURMERIC:

Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory qualities are well-known. Furthermore, it aids in the management of hormone imbalances by regulating estrogen metabolism. It provides excellent liver support. Curcumin, the main ingredient in turmeric, has been found in studies to help the liver detoxify. This improves the liver’s ability to flush out harmful poisons that cause hormone imbalances. It is quite important. Curcumin has also been shown to help with puberty initiation in the event of delayed puberty in a few trials.

3. NEEM:

Neem offers a variety of medical characteristics and benefits in addition to balancing hormones. It is a powerful antioxidant that aids in the cleansing of the blood. This herb is an excellent hormonal acne treatment as well as a potent healer. It treats acne-prone skin that has been plagued by several ailments since adolescence. Neem also possesses anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antibacterial qualities, which aid in the treatment of hormonal acne.

4. NUTS:

For your hormones to function properly, the right amount of good fat is essential as your hormones thrive on fat production. Nuts such as peanut, cashew, and almonds are good sources of the same. Almonds have great estrogenic activity. Therefore, it impacts our endocrine system and regulates our major body glands. Whereas, cashews and peanuts have healthy phytoestrogens.

5. SEEDS:

Sunflower, pumpkin, and melon seeds are excellent sources of healthy fats. Vitamin E, antioxidants, magnesium, zinc, potassium, and vitamin K are all abundant in them. They help in balancing body’s estrogen and progesterone levels. Not only that, but they’re beneficial to your overall health because they aid digestion, cell growth, and keep your nervous system in good shape.

FOODS TO AVOID:

REFINED SUGAR:

Refined sugar and carbs can cause substantial hormonal imbalance. Sugar causes the body’s most critical hormone, Insulin, to malfunction. Insulin interacts with a number of other hormones in the body, including estrogen and testosterone. Furthermore, it depletes vitamin B levels in the body, leading to anxiety and sadness over time.

Greatest source of sugar in the average kid’s diet are sugary snacks and beverages like cookies, cakes, candies, fruit juice, soda, and sports drinks. Everything that the child picks up to eat today has strains of added sugar in some form or the other.

PRESERVATIVES:

Most of the packaged food companies are adding artificial preservatives to delay spoilage and contamination in foods.  To clearly define, artificial preservatives such as nitrates, benzoates, sulphites, sorbates, parabens, formaldehyde, BHT, BHA and several others can cause serious health hazards. Hormone imbalances, hypersensitivity, allergy, asthma, hyperactivity, neurological damage are some hazards.

REFINED OIL:

Broadly speaking, all natural and useful elements are removed from oil during the refining process. This is bad for your hormones, digestive system, and respiratory system, and ultimately has a negative impact on your general health.

8 Effective Home Remedies and Foods for Facial Hair

FACIAL HAIR FOR WOMEN

‘Facial hair in women’, a concept we dismiss as too unpleasant to even speak openly, is actually a natural phenomenon. All women have body and facial hair, although the majority of the time, the facial hair is light in colour and thin in nature. For some women, though, hair growth is vast and coarse. As a result, we have come up with an article to get rid of facial hair for women with the use of simple home remedies that don’t cost a fortune. (5 Tips and foods to manage PCOS in teens)

WHATSAPP for concerns like Speech Delay, Low Weight, Frequent Illness, Hyperactivity, Low Concentration, Weak Eyesight, Improper Sleep, Pigmentation, Pores, Face Marks, Fine Lines , Lactation etc.

Causes of facial hair in women

All women have very fine, unnoticeable facial hair. However, only a few people have dense facial hair. The fuzz of hair on a woman’s face can be caused by a variety of factors. Let us go through them in detail. (Hormone happy fruits for kids and teens)

1. Hormones

One of the most common reasons for facial hair for women is hormonal imbalance. The most prevalent cause of excessive female growth is abnormal or above-normal amounts of androgens (the male hormone testosterone). Androgens are hormones that control male traits in the human body. Men and women both create masculine and feminine hormones. However, certain girls may have an overabundance of androgens, resulting in male pattern hair growth, a deep voice like a man, weight fluctuations, and so on.

Excess androgen production might be caused by health issues such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, Cushing syndrome, and thyroid imbalance. (5 foods to manage hormonal imbalances in kids and teens)

2. GENETICS

If a female has regular periods and no other illnesses, the cause of extra hair is most likely hereditary. If your grandmother, mother, or other women in your family have excessive facial hair, you are likely to have it as well.

3. Stress

Certain phases in the girl’s life may be pretty stressful like the changes in school, work,  family, and relationships. To help the body keep up, the adrenal glands release stress hormones in certain situations. Because the adrenal glands produce androgen hormones, increasing stress may result in an increase in the amount of androgens in circulation causing the growth of unwanted facial hair.

4. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

Just like hormonal changes, PCOS in teens and adults ( a type of hormonal imbalance) are part of normal puberty and is quite common these days.PCOS affects 6-10% of women and can manifest in females as young as eleven years old. Overproduction of androgens, a family of hormones responsible for masculine traits, causes this abnormal condition. Although hirsutism—unwanted or abundant facial hair—is one of the signs of PCOS, facial hair growth by itself does not indicate the condition. (6 foods for period pain in teens)

Home remedies for facial hair for women

Women employed natural home treatments for facial hair for women decades ago when there were no other options. These solutions are inexpensive because they simply call for a few common ingredients that you may already have on hand. These natural remedies are simple to produce, safe to use and provide long-term benefits. So, why not try one of the home remedies for facial hair for women listed below?

1. Lemon juice and sugar

This is an age-old beauty technique for getting rid of unwanted hair.

Combine the sugar, lemon juice, and a small amount of water in a small mixing bowl. To dissolve the sugar, whisk it vigorously until it forms a sticky granular paste. Scrub well after 30 minutes. The hair sticks to the pack and when it’s removed, the hair comes off with it.

2. Banana and oatmeal

The oatmeal removes hair as well as dead skin, while the banana moisturises the skin.

Mash the banana and then combine it with the oatmeal powder. Apply the paste and massage it in a circular motion against the growth of your hair. Allow it to dry completely before rubbing it off with your fingertips to remove facial hair.

3.Gram flour and rose water

Gram flour has excellent exfoliating properties, and when paired with the benefits of rose water, it slows hair growth.

Combine 2 tbsp gram flour, 2 tbsp rose water, 1 tbsp lemon juice in a bowl. Combine all of the ingredients to make a paste and apply it to your face. Allow it to dry fully before rubbing it off with your fingertips. Repeat this three to four times a week for best results. It is one of the best home remedy for removing facial hair.

4. Papaya and turmeric

Papaya includes an enzyme called papain, which is known to help eliminate facial hair, and turmeric gives the face a healthy and beautiful shine, hence, this home remedy for hair removal is also a glow-boosting one.

Cut a papaya slice into little pieces and mash it to make a paste, then add half a teaspoon of turmeric to it. Mix well and only apply to places where undesired hair growth occurs. Massage for a few minutes, then leave it on for another 15-20 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water. For optimal results, repeat this home treatment to eliminate facial hair twice a week.

5.Honey and sugar

Sugar gently exfoliates the skin’s surface, removing dead skin cells and facial hair, whilst honey heals and nourishes the skin, making it one of the greatest home remedies for facial hair removal.

In a bowl, combine one tablespoon of honey, two tablespoons of sugar, and one tablespoon of water. Microwave the mixture in a bowl for 30 seconds, or until the sugar melts. Apply the paste to the parts of your face where you have unsightly facial hair. Apply the paste and massage it in a circular motion on your hair’s growth. Allow it to dry completely before removing facial hair with your hands.

6. Turmeric, Rice flour and milk

Turmeric has been shown to inhibit hair growth while also adding a healthy and attractive sheen to the face, while milk works as a light exfoliating and moisturising agent.

Combine rice flour, turmeric and milk in a bowl and apply the mask over the area of unwanted hair and let it dry. Wash it off with warm water.

7. Aloe vera and papaya

Hair removal is aided by the papain enzyme, while skin moisturization is aided by aloe vera.

Combine aloe vera pulp, papaya paste, gram flour, and mustard oil to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to the surface and allow it to dry. Rub the dry mask in the opposite direction of hair growth with a cotton cloth. Wash it off and massage a few drops of coconut oil into the skin.

8. Potato and lemon juice

Potato juice, honey, and lemon juice are bleaching agents that brighten skin and hair colour, while green gram flour aids in hair removal.

Grate the potato and squeeze the juice out of it. To make a fine paste, combine green gram flour, lemon juice, honey, and potato juice. Apply the pack to your face. Rub it in a circular manner and remove it, once it has dried completely. Use it twice a week for optimal results.

Foods to consume to get rid of facial hair in women

To get rid of facial hair, you should consume a lot more of the following foods.

1. Magnesium, zinc and copper rich foods:

These essential minerals can help to prevent facial hair by reducing testosterone’s action. Magnesium may be obtained from foods such as soybeans, whole grains, seeds, and nuts. Zinc may be found in pumpkin seeds, peanuts, and dark chocolate. Copper is abundant in spirulina, leafy green vegetables, sunflower seeds, chickpeas, lentils, cashews, almonds, chia seeds, raisins, and sesame seeds.

2. Vitamin b6 rich foods:

Vitamin B6 reduces the female body’s synthesis of prolactin, a hormone that is responsible for the release of testosterone, which causes facial hair. Avocados, salmon, organ meats, soybeans, walnuts, peanuts, whole grains, spinach, bananas, and other fruits contain this vitamin.

3. Vitamin A RICH FOODS:

Vitamin A suppresses facial hair by regulating testosterone levels in the body. It serves the same purpose as Vitamin B6. Nuts like almonds and peanuts, as well as seeds like pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, reduce facial hair growth.

5. Manjistha

Manjistha is extremely useful to balance hormones and reduce unwanted facial hair caused due to PCOS. It is a herb known for its blood purifying properties and ability to restore uterine health. 5 tips and foods to manage PCOS in Teens and Adults

PCOS in Teens

Just like hormonal changes, PCOS in teens and adults ( a type of hormonal imbalance) are part of normal puberty and quite common these days. Actually acne and irregular periods are part of pubertal development. So when does it become PCOS?

Lots of girls who are misdiagnosed with PCOS are actually just in normal puberty, and later go on to have completely normal hormones. On the other hand, many girls or women still go undiagnosed, even with clear signs, as there’s so much confusion as to what is normal. With PCOS, it’s better to intervene earlier because this can make a huge difference in their overall health for life. In this article, you will understand about PCOS, its causes, symptoms, signs and tips to manage PCOS in Teens and Adults.

WHATSAPP for concerns like Speech Delay, Low Weight, Frequent Illness, Hyperactivity, Low Concentration, Weak Eyesight, Improper Sleep, Pigmentation, Pores, Face Marks, Fine Lines , Lactation etc.

What Is PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)?

PCOS, which stands for polycystic ovary syndrome, is a common health problem that can affect teen girls and young women. It can cause irregular menstrual periods, make periods heavier, or even make periods stop. It can also cause a girl to have excess facial hair and acne.

What Causes Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)?

Doctors can’t say for sure what causes it, but PCOS seems to be related to an imbalance in a girl’s or woman hormones . For most women, it’s probably a combination of factors, including the genes you inherit from your family. For example, women with PCOS are more likely to have a mother or sister with PCOS.

PCOS is usually caused when in addition to estrogen (the main female hormone), women also make small amounts of testosterone (the main male hormone). In PCOS, girls and women make a little extra testosterone than normal. Research also suggests that the body might make too much insulin, signaling the ovaries to release extra male hormones. The higher amounts of these male hormones can interfere with egg development and release. Due to the presence of extra male hormones (testosterone), sometimes cysts (little sacs filled with liquid) develop, instead of the eggs maturing. This results in the cysts build up in the ovaries instead of an egg being released during ovulation as in a normal period. Eventually, these Polycystic ovaries can become enlarged. Girls/women with PCOS might not be ovulating or releasing an egg each month.

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)?

The signs and symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) are as mentioned below:

  • Irregular menstrual periods, which means having your period more than once a month or every few months
  • Missed periods
  • Very heavy or very light periods
  • Unwanted hair growth on your face, chest, back, hands, upper arms and legs, or around your nipples (a condition called hirsutism)
  • Acne or clogged pores
  • Thinner hair on your head (alopecia)
  • Patches of dark, thickened skin on your neck, armpits, or between your breasts (called acanthosis nigricans), which is a sign of insulin resistance
  • Weight gain or obesity

Teens and women with PCOS also are at higher risk for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and/or high cholesterol.

Girls who show signs of puberty early, such as developing underarm or pubic hair before age 8, may be at greater risk for PCOS later on.

What Problems Can Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Cause?

Girls/women with PCOS are more likely to:

  • Face infertility or have difficulty conceiving. However, this is treatable when a woman decides she wants to become pregnant.
  • Have excessive hair growth on places such as the face, chest, or belly
  • Get acne or have their acne get worse
  • Gain weight or difficulty maintaining a normal weight
  • Develop diabetes, heart disease, or high blood pressure
  • Have obstructive sleep apnea Which foods help to manage sleep issues?

How Is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Diagnosed?

If your doctor thinks you might have PCOS, he or she may refer you to a gynecologist or an endocrinologist for a diagnosis. To make the diagnosis, the doctor might  perform any or some of the following actions:

  • Ask about your concerns and symptoms, your past health, your family’s health, any medicines you’re taking, any allergies you have, and other issues.
  • Ask you lots of questions specifically about your period and its regularity.
  • Do a physical exam, which includes checking your weight, and looking for physical signs such as acne, hair growth, and darkened skin.
  • Do a gynecologic exam to rule out other possible causes of your symptoms.
  • Order blood tests to diagnose PCOS and or to see if the symptoms are caused by other conditions, such as thyroid or other ovarian or gland problems.
  • Order a pelvic ultrasound (a safe, painless test that uses sound waves to make images of the pelvis) to check your ovaries for cysts or other problems.

How THeSE 5 TIPS AND FOODS CAN HELP TO TREAT PCOS in Teens or adults?

There’s no cure for PCOS, but there are several ways to treat and manage it.

1. Diet and Exercise

If a girl/woman is overweight or obese, a doctor will recommend lifestyle changes. Weight loss can be very effective in easing many of the health conditions associated with PCOS, such as high blood pressure and diabetes.

Your doctor or a registered dietitian can look at your food intake and your exercise and activity to create a weight-loss program for you. Exercise is very important to improve your body’s sensitivity to insulin and prevent progression to diabetes.

2. Medicines

Sometimes doctors prescribe medicines to treat PCOS.

  • Birth control pills to help control androgen levels in the body and regulate menstrual cycle. They may also help control acne and excessive hair growth in some girls, but they don’t work for everyone.
  • Antiandrogens also are sometimes used to treat PCOS in teens. These medicines counter the effects of excess androgens and help clear up skin and hair growth problems.
  • A diabetes medicine called metformin can lower insulin levels. In some girls with PCOS, it can help control ovulation and androgen levels which can make menstrual cycles more regular.

Medicines should always be combined with the recommended lifestyle changes.

5 foods to balance hormones in male child

Teenage comes with many physical and emotional changes in a kid’s life. Both girls and boys experience different kinds of changes. Like girls, boys also go through some major changes during puberty. Puberty is also known as adolescence. In boys puberty starts between 11- 14 years of age. This is the time when you can see the maximum amount of growth in weight and height in kids. There are several changes that may occur at the same time. Your kids may grow some inches suddenly which was followed by a very slow growth from the past few months. Each boy goes through these changes at their own pace. It is important to understand that these changes will be seen differently in each teen. All these physical maturations are result of hormonal changes in kid’s body. Taking care of diet can help to balance hormones in a male child or boy.

Physical changes
Body size

Body size of boys starts increasing. You may observe that legs, arms, hands, feet are growing faster than the rest of the body. This sometimes makes a teen feel awkward but, frequent growth spurts are absolutely common in boys as they enters puberty phase.

Breast growth

The upper body muscles begin to develop. Some boys may experience swelling in the breast area. The reason for this is only hormonal changes. It is a temporary condition which is common in teenage boys. Encourage him to start some regular exercises. It will help in growth.

Voice change

As a boy enters puberty phase, his voice may change. If you feel that your boy’s voice is cracking, he is going through the natural effects of male puberty. His voice will become deeper in some days.

Hair growth

Boys get hair growth around genital area. They will also start having hairs on face (Beard and mustache), under their arms, and on legs. Boys generally love this change as they considered facial hairs as sign of manhood.

Acne

The most common issue is Acne. Almost all teenagers weather boys or girls face break out with pimples from time to time. It is caused as glands in the skin start producing natural oils called sebum. This happens because of increase in puberty hormones in male or boys. This extra sebum clog the skin pores which results in acne.

Body odor

It is considered as one of the earliest sign of puberty. Boys begin to sweat profusely because of hormonal changes. Sweat itself has no smell. It is just odorless salty water. But the sweat glands located under the arms in the groin produce sebum which get mixed with sweat and make the kids stink.

testicles and scrotum

As the body grows, some changes can be seen in their testicles and scrotum too. It is a natural process just as girls get their periods. The body is getting ready for the process of reproduction.

Emotional Changes
Anxiety

It is natural for a kid to feel anxiety or excitement about the changes that he is experiencing. These changes may push him to worry or wonder if this is normal. Though on having mustache and muscles he feels happy as these are the signs of becoming a man.

Reserved

It is now past that your son shares all the things that happened during the day with you. As he enters puberty phase you find him quite reserved. You may often hear “Nothing” as an answer to most of your questions. He may not like to watch TV and loves to stay in his room only. But, you need to make your relationship stronger at this point of time. Try to have regular talks with him.

Mood swings:

He may become moody at times. It is absolutely normal. The reason behind these mood swings are only change in hormones in male or boys that affects the brain too. Let him handle these mood swings. But, never leave them alone. Always offer or ask if they need help.

Romantic Interest:

Your kid can tell you that he likes someone, or develop a crush at school. These romantic interests can bring lots of ups and downs in your kid’s life. These feelings will lead the kids to develop a deeper capacity to care. But, you have to know every minor development which is happening in kid’s life as everything is new for them and the chances of getting misled are high.

Important nutrients for teenagers
Protein

Adolescent needs a balanced meal with adequate amounts of protein during puberty as protein helps in growth and repair of muscles and tissues. It also generates enzymes and hormones in male. Protein rich diets help them to feel energetic throughout the day. Nuts, seeds, chicken, eggs, fish and cheese are a few high protein foods. (Top nuts and seeds for protein)

Carbohydrates

They are the biggest source of energy for teenagers. Almost 60% of energy (calories) for the day must come from carbohydrate foods. They provide instant energy and keep the kids on their toes. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains and sugar are rich in carbohydrates. (Food for immunity?)

Dietary Fat

Fat should make up no more than 30% of the diet. A teenager who indulges in a fat-heavy diet is going to put on weight, even if he or she is active. Dietary fat contains varying proportions of three types:

  • Monounsaturated fat is the healthiest kind of fat and is found in olives, olive oil, peanuts, peanut, peanut butter, cashews, walnuts, walnut oil and canola oil.
  • Polyunsaturated fat is found in corn oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, and sesame-seed oil.
  • Saturated fat is the most cholesterol laden of the three and is found in meat and dairy products like beef, pork, lamb, butter, cheese, cream, egg yolks, coconut oil, and palm oil. (Natural sources of saturated fats?)

हॉर्मोन असंतुलन को प्रबंधित करने के लिए भोजन

hormonal imbalance

Magnesium to control hormonal imbalance
