Hello friends, I am Raina Agarwal, first of all I would like to thank Iyurved who gave me the chance to refresh my childhood memories and share it with all of you. Childhood days were something else, no worries about anything, no senses, just fun and games all the time.

I belong to Puranpur, (a small town in western U.P.) and this is where I spent my childhood. It is a very beautiful place, there is forest all around, so much greenery which we miss these days. In those days the houses used to be very big, one did not have to go outside to play, the games used to go on in the house the whole day, sometimes climbing on the trees, hide and seek, hopscotch and many more.

Our family was a joint family, we all lived together and the food was cooked together. The food made by my mother always tasted great. All the food that she use to make on daily basis, we even make same food today also like Dal Rice, Kadhi Rice, Choley Bhature,  Sarso ka Saag, Makke Ki Roti, but the taste was very different from today, maybe in those days things were pure and there was no adulteration .

In childhood, the fun of festivals was something else. All the family members used to make many things together like Ladoo, Mathari,  Namkeen,  Sweets,  Chips,  Papad,  Gujiya were all made at home. On the day of the festival  all the food was prepared in the morning, and in the evening everyone used to get ready and come to each other’s house. I miss that childhood Holi and Diwali.

Now everything have changed a lot, today I am married for 25 years. I have a son who is 18 years old and daughter 14 years old. I also make everything at home, whether it is daily food or special festival things like sweets and Mathari.  My Husband and children like my hand cooked food very much, only I do not get the taste of my mother’s hand. I try my best that whatever I make, it should be nutritious.

And finally, a lesson that my mother gave me, I would like to share with all. She always used to say that whatever  you  cook, always be happy while cooking, as the same feeling comes in food. If you are happy while cooking, the food becomes delicious automatically.

I am very grateful to Iyurved for sharing my childhood memories and giving me this platform. I truly believe that nowadays children do not get the kind of nutrition and food that we used to get in childhood. It is great that Iyurved is making such nutritious food products for kids. This is the need of an hour.

I especially like Savoury spread because it can be mixed in any food we normally eat.

Hello friends, मैं रैना अगरवाल, सबसे पहले तो मैं धन्यवाद करना चाहती हूं Iyurved का जिसने मुझे ये मौका दिया की मैं अपनी बचपन की यादें ताजा करू, और आप सब से साझा करू। बचपन के दिन ही कुछ और थे, ना किसी चीज की फिक्र, न होश बस हर समय मस्ती और खेल कूद, । 

मैं पूरनपुर की हूँ , Western U.P. का एक छोटा सा कस्बा और यही मेरा बचपन बीता, बहुत ही सुंदर जगह है, अगल बगल सब जंगल है। हरियाली तो इतनी कि पूछो मत। Agriculture के मामले में छोटा पंजाब समझिये। मेरे पिता का व्यवसाय भी fertilizers का ही था। हमारे पिताजी का व्यवसाय में बहुत नाम था I उन दिनों घर भी बहुत बड़े हुआ करते थे, खेलने जाने के लिए बाहर नहीं जाना पड़ता था, पूरा दिन घर में ही खेल चलता रहता था, कभी पेड़ पर चढ़ना, कभी छुपन छुपाई तो कभी पकड़म पकड़ाई। 

हमारा परिवार एक संयुक्त परिवार था, सभी साथ मिल कर रहते थे और खाना भी साथ ही बनता था। माँ के हाथ का बना सादा खाना भी बहुत स्वाद लगता था। खाना सब वही जो हम आज भी  बनाते है जैसे दाल चावल, कढ़ी चावल, छोले भटूरे, सरसों का साग, मक्के की रोटी, मगर स्वाद आज से बहुत अलग, शायद उन दिनों चीजें शुद्ध मिलती थी और मिलावट नही थी इसलिए। 

बचपन में festivals का तो मजा ही कुछ और होता था। सब घर वाले मिल कर बहुत सारी चीजें बनाते थे, लड्डू, मठरी, नमकीन, मिठाई, चिप्स पापड़, गुजिया सब घर पर ही बनता था। त्यौहार वाले दिन सुबह ही सब खाना बन जाता था, और शाम को सब तैयार हो कर एक दूसरे के घर आते जाते थे। बहुत याद आती है वो बचपन की होली और दिवाली। 

अब समय बहुत बदल गया है, आज मेरी शादी को 25 साल हो गए है। मेरा एक बेटा है 18 साल का और बेटी 14 साल की। मैं भी सब कुछ घर पर ही बनाना पसंद करती हूँ, वो चाहए रोज़ का खाना हो या festivals की मिठाई और मठरी। पति और बच्चे भी मेरे हाथ का बना खाना बहुत पसंद करते है, बस मुझे ही माँ के हाथ का स्वाद नहीं मिलता। मेरी पूरी कोशिश रहती है कि जो भी मैं बताऊँ,वो पौष्टिक हो। 

और अंत में एक सीख जो मेरी माँ ने मुझे दी वो मैं आप सब से साझा करना चाहिए हूँ, वो हमेशा कहती थी कि खाना  चाहे जो बनाओ,  हमेशा खुश मन से बनाना, वही भाव खाने में भी आते है, अगर आप खुश हो कर खाना बनाए गे तो खाना स्वादिष्ट ही बनेगा I

Hi, I am Meghna Sharma,  mother of two daughters, 10 and 2.5 years old. I was born and brought up in Delhi but my native place is Rajasthan. The culturally enriched state leaves an impeccable impact on our lives too.  

Life is good but sometimes I miss my maternal house very much. Since we live in Delhi we used to go to our Nani’s house during summer vacations, you can imagine the weather of Rajasthan during summers, but still the fun was unlimited. My maternal house was basically at Churu, a place near Bikaner.

May and June were the hottest months, and during that period dehydration was the most common thing we all suffered from, as the ground water of Rajasthan was mostly salty and we were not used to it. But nothing to worry when nani maa (grandmother) and mausiya(Aunties) were there to take care of us. To save us from dehydration they use to make a lot of healthy and delicious drinks like Amma panna, imli ka panna, bajre ki raabri, mango shake and nimbu ki shikanji. Rasna, tang and other cold drinks were like a dream for us.

I have a very small family in nanihal with 7 mausi and 2 mama’s plus 1 mamij with we kids among 1 or 2 of each, total we are around 25-30 humans not much😅😅 and my mother being the eldest of the small army but disciplined and stick to our roots. 

Going to Rajasthan and not having their main cuisine daal-baati-churma…is like going to Agra and not visiting Taj Mahal. The world famous rajasthani Panchmel daal is a mixture of 5 daals altogether with tadka or desi ghee to strengthen bones. Kair-sangri ki sabzi which is made with lots of nuts is must have and without Besan ke gatte ki sabzi your trip can never be complete. Bikaneri sponge rasgulla …l can feel water in my mouth only by writing 🤤🤤

Tulsi became the sacred plant….which we used to worship since childhood and we all very well know the medicinal properties of this holy plant. When we used to visit in winters, Tulsi and ginger tea was a must to get rid of cold and cough.

But now food has completely changed, there is so much Adulteration these days, that we are not able to give the kind of stuff we had in our childhood. In our childhood, even the normal home made cooked food was intact with all the nutrients and unknowing we were getting all required nutrients.

But still where there is a will there is a way.. We have to take some time out from our busy and high gadgets life to make food interesting for them. Out of all the dried  fruits my daughters only eat raisins, so I make powder of different nuts and hide it in their chapatis and parathas…job done with fun. Instead of ordering junk food from outside, I used to make it at home with whole wheat. I even make protein powder at home to mix in their milk.These are some small things which can make a big difference in a kid’s health.

I feel really blessed to have such an enriched life and I am trying to pass it on to my little one’s in every way and manner I can.

Thank you so much for providing me with a platform to share a bit of me.  I truly believe that nowadays children do not get the kind of nutrition and food that we used to get in childhood. It is great that Iyurved is making such nutritious food products for kids.
